Are you the right psychologist for me?
The therapy relationship between psychologist and client is a key factor towards successful outcomes in therapy. For this reason, I will call to speak to you to before we book our first appointment to make sure I'll be a good fit for you. The therapy relationship will then continue to be regularly reviewed throughout treatment.
When are you available?
Private practice clinic appointments are available on Wednesdays during business hours
How many sessions will I need and how often?
How many sessions you may require really depends on a number of factors, including how long you've experienced these difficulties, how much they impact on your life and how ready you feel to address them.Â
To get the most from therapy, we usually schedule sessions every two weeks as this helps keep traction in therapy and ensure you are applying skills and learnings to life outside of therapy.
Do I need to bring anything to my first session?
To your first appointment, please bring your completed forms, which will be emailed to you beforehand, and your referral (if you have one). It is also very helpful to think about what goals or outcomes you want to achieve in therapy.
What is schema therapy?
Schemas are unhelpful emotional or thinking patterns we can develop from not having all our practical and emotional needs met in early life. They affect how we view ourselves, our relationships with others and can affect all aspects of our lives. We often develop unhelpful coping response as a way to manage these schemas.
In schema therapy, I will work with you to address these damaging schemas and the unhelpful coping patterns you may have developed, to build healthy self-compassion and better coping style.
